Calling All Dogs
What is Sweet Charity all about?
The humans at Sweet Charity train and place dogs like us to live with kids who have diabetes. Using our superior sense of smell, we alert the kids and their caregivers to impending danger when their blood sugars drop too low -- an emergency situation. The humans at Sweet Charity also train dogs to be Canine Ambassadors for youth in high schools. Our canine presence in the schools results in a positive impact on students, staff and the overall school environment.

Our Diabetes Alert Dogs program trains dogs and matches them with individuals with type 1 diabetes. The dogs are diligently trained to recognize low blood sugar and alert the individual, family member, or caregiver. Families of individuals with diabetes bear a maximum 50% of the cost of training the dog. The remaining cost is borne by Sweet Charity. That’s why your participation matters so much.
